When the Door Closed,
It Was Dark Alison Moore Author bio Cover photograph by Conrad Williams ISBN: 978-1-907341-03-8 Publication date: March 2010 ‘This story was word-perfect, creepily heavy, not a word extra and had an atmosphere that started making me feel sick from the first page. It's a story that needs rereading, which I did, the second I finished it the first time, and again today. I have the rest of the titles from Nightjar, and I'll be taking my time over them. Need to space them out, as I've been seething with jealousy over the way Alison Moore puts her words together all day’ Jenn Ashworth, Every Day I Lie a Little ‘There’s a palpable sense of menace about this piece… Moore’s tale is excellent’ David Hebblethwaite, Follow the Thread ‘Moore experiments with style throughout the brief story, moving back and forth from present to past tense to give the story an uncomfortable immediacy. The denouement is genuinely shocking’ Lisa Morton, Black Glove ‘Sharp, darker than dark and utterly gripping. Her control of the language is absolutely outstanding. She is a wordsmith of the dark side’ Caroline Smailes, In Search of Me |
